Mikolaj Obrycki was born in Szczecin. From 1997 to 2003 he studied painting, graphics and sculpture at Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. He gained his degree in painting in the art studio of professor Jerzy Kalucki. He had started to exhibit his works long before he commenced his education at the Academy. The first exhibition of his paintings was held in his hometown, Szczecin, in 1994. Obrycki’s paintings, no matter if figurative or abstract are always unrestrained and free in their way of presenting the subject. His paintings inspired by music deserve special attention. It might be this particular combination of the painter’s talent and musical education the Author has gained that helps to convey his message with aid of minimal means and suggestive music. He is one of the most talented painters of young generation. Despite his young age, Obrycki has created an impressive number of works, which were presented on over 70 exhibitions both in Poland and abroad.
